The scale and splendour of our building bear clear witness to the historic patronage of kings and bishops. But today we live in a different age. The Abbey belongs to all who love it, from local worshippers, students and volunteers, to national and international musicians, artists and visitors from all over the world.

You can support the Abbey in many different ways, with your time, your skills or your money. Take a look here to see the many ways our volunteers support us, or perhaps join our Friends of Dorchester Abbey?

It costs £550 a day to maintain this magnificent building ( do take a look at our finances in more detail here) that hosts so many services and great festivals, musical and cultural events, and educational activities open to all. This great Abbey has existed for nearly a thousand years, and it’s easy to take its future for granted. But we’re entirely self-funded, and receive no support from the State or the Church to support our buildings or activities.

If you give a donation, whether it’s a one-off or regular gift, you are making a valuable contribution to the work of Dorchester Abbey. Thank you for your support.

There are 6 ways you can donate money to Dorchester Abbey

If you pay UK tax PLEASE also complete a gift aid form and post it to our Treasurer so that we can claim back gift aid on your donation.  This means that your gift is increased by 25% at no extra cost to you!

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is direct debit based way of making planned donations to your parish church. It is safe, flexible, reduces administration for the church, and improves cashflow.

The scheme enables people to give to their church by direct debit, and there are significant benefits to this scheme compared to other ways of giving. Gift aid is automatically processed by the Parish Giving Scheme every month, saving the church considerable time and improving cashflow. Additionally, givers can choose to automatically increase their giving by the rate of inflation every year. This tackles the problem of static giving, where people’s giving ordinarily remains the same year on year whilst the costs of the church rise continually due to inflation. Givers can also choose to give anonymously if they wish. Over 20 dioceses have adopted the Parish Giving Scheme, and all are seeing increases in giving as a result.

More information about the scheme can be found in this information leaflet or you can simply complete this form and return it to our Treasurer at 73, High St, Dorchester-on-Thames OX10 7HN
Do contact our Treasurer by email with any further questions.
