Intermezzo is an Oxford chamber choir, founded in 2012, which rehearses during the University vacations. Its 30-40 members are drawn from other Oxford choirs that rest outside of the Oxford University term, including graduate students, University staff, and other singers from Oxford who wish to continue singing when their regular choirs are dormant.
The choir focuses on beautiful music mainly from the 20th and 21st century such as by Ešenvalds, Miškinis, Lauridsen and Whitacre. Intermezzo is conducted by its founder, Andrew Ker, a longstanding chamber choral singer and orchestral player and conductor.
The concert features music with a “Psalm” connection, including:
Elberdin – Cantate Domino
Whitacre – Oculi Omnium
Runestad – I Will Lift Mine Eyes
Pärt – Two Slavonic Psalms
and music by Augustinas, Tallis, Kreek, Rachmaninov, and others.
