Groups and Tours of the Abbey
Visiting groups welcome
We welcome visits by groups, large or small, to share the religious, spiritual, historical and architectural heritage of the Abbey. Please note that all groups should book through the parish office, whether or not a guide is required.
Educational visits
The Abbey is a wonderful educational resource for primary and secondary schools and for university students. For details on how to arrange and plan your school visit, go to Education.
Guided tours
Our volunteers are happy to provide guided tours for groups other than schools. First, please book your group with the parish office, giving details of your organisation, contact details, numbers in group, and proposed duration of visit. Then contact the Abbey's Education Officer to discuss your specific requirements, special needs, language, specific interests (e.g. history, archaeology). We may also be able to offer coffee, light lunches or afternoon tea by separate arrangement. We charge £20 for groups of 10 or less, and £2 per head for groups larger than 10 (cheques payable to Dorchester Abbey PCC).
Self-guided tours
Even if you do not require one of our guides, in order to
avoid disappointment due to programme and event clashes,
please book your visit with the parish
office. We invite such groups to make an appropriate
donation to the Abbey through the Gift Box near the entrance.
Why not print our Historical Tour of
the Abbey page or download
