Pilgrimage and Worship Key Stage 2
Interfaith Study Day - 15 June 2011
This is an RE themed day aimed specifically at Key Stage 2 covering many aspects of the RE Syllabus, particularly Unit 3,
‘Worship, Pilgrimage and Sacred Places’, held in the sacred space of Dorchester Abbey, an important local pilgrimage
site since the medieval period.
The day's activities are directly linked to the Oxfordshire, Reading and West Berkshire locally agreed RE syllabus themes.The four main faiths are included throughout all activities: Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism.
Schedule and activities
The day fits into school timetable: 10.00am-2.30pm. There are four activity slots, all dealing with Sacred Places:
2 focused on traditions and methods of Worship across the faiths
2 focused on the role and meaning of Pilgrimage for each of the faiths
Cost
ONLY £5 per child, but bursaries may be available
